I had a vision of a an unconventional, but special, wedding ring, and Laurel was extremely accommodating throughout the design process staying within our spending limit while also making what was essentially a dream come true. I struggled to convey what I wanted on the ring at times, and Laurel was very patient, gracious and kind throughout our communications, offering her insight. I loved every step of the process, and I learned a lot from Laurel. The ring is absolutely stunning and exactly as I wanted it, her and her hubby do really great work. If I could give them 6 stars I would!
We visited the showroom for the first time today and had a great time! So much possibilities! We walked out thinking and dreaming about future to-become-heirloom pieces. Our daughter could also explore the store and touch and try rings: she was mesmerised!

When I first ordered my engagement ring, life threw some unexpected family challenges my way, which drastically shortened my timeline for a custom-made ring from months to just two weeks. Unfortunately, there was a small hiccup with the ring size, which was due to a misunderstanding about international sizing on my part, not Northwood Jewelry's. Nevertheless, the team graciously allowed me to return the ring within their 30-day window for resizing, all the way from Europe. They provided all the information I needed and continued their excellent communication throughout the process.
During the return shipment, we encountered an issue with duty tax. However, Laurel, the kind-hearted founder and owner of Northwood Jewelry, stepped in and generously took care of the tax, allowing me to reimburse them before shipping the ring back to me. I haven't received the resized ring yet, but I have no doubt that it will be just as perfect as the original. I am also excited to purchase my wedding band from Northwood Jewelry in the near future.

The team at Northwood Custom Jewelery did an amazing job with my fiancé's ring. I was having trouble to find the perfect ring to propose with and Laurel gave me the amazing idea of having an empty box proposal and getting my fiance in afterwards to build a custom ring. Laurel was extremely professional and fun to work with and made the whole experience a great one. My fiance and I brought family rings to blend the gold and use some stones. It is a perfect representation of uniting both our families and creating something of our own. We could not be happier with the final result. The team was extremely good to keep us updates through the process and giving us some guidance with ideas for the design. Wonder why I'm reviewing this company now? Some 7 years after I got married? Well, one of the issues with a wooden and precious metal ring is that they can look tired over time. But Northwood Custom jewelry allow you to send your ring back for free for the lifetime that you own it for revarnishing and repair.
Hand sanitising during the pandemic clearly had an impact on how good my ring looks, but I've just received it back today after a brief holiday to Canada where the team at Northwood refreshed it to perfection or without costing me a penny other than return shipping. A fantastic company which I would heartily recommend.

The custom ring Northwood Rings made for me is so so sooo pretty and they really did work so hard to get it to match my vision perfectly. Generally, they were pretty prompt about emailing me back when I emailed them with questions and were pleasant to work with. However, the ring ended up taking several months longer to complete than they had originally told me. Fortunately, I did think to order my ring many months ahead of when I planned to propose, so the timeline worked out okay for me.
I know their operation is very small, so I wasn't surprised at all that the ring was taking longer than it was supposed to, but I wish they had been better about keeping me updated on the progress of my ring once it was clear that it wasnt going to be finished within a few days of the predicted date.
I was definitely anxious to see my design come to life. They got a lot of emails from me asking about my ring's status lol. Once pressed, they did allow me to see pictures of my ring in progress and they were careful to give me more updates, but I wish that it didn't take so much pressing for an update. I wonder if in the future, there's a possibility for a better progress tracking system for their custom rings?
One other thing to note is that within a week of wearing the ring, my fiance started noticing some imperfections in the acrylic finish of the ring. We're not entirely sure what it is or if it will go away with time, but we do notice that the wood wax provided helps temporarily. I emailed Northwood Rings to ask if this needed to be refinished or if this was normal but wasn't really given a clear answer-- just that if I *wanted* to, I could pay for it to be shipped back to them to be refinished. For now, my fiance and I have decided to just keep waxing the ring regularly to see if the problem goes away.
All in all, my fiance is in love with his ring and minus the flawed finish, I am too.
TL;DR
The folks at Northwood Rings are polite, dedicated people with a serious knack for ring making, but could probably use a better status tracking system. If you intend to order a custom ring, make sure to give ample time for unforeseen problems with making it. Also be fully prepared to take really good care of your ring once you do get it. BUT it's totally worth it if you decide wood rings are the right choice for you.
I ordered my fiancé's wedding band from Northwood Rings and we are very pleased with the results! It also came with care instructions and instructions for resizing if needed. The process can take up to a month so be sure to keep this in mind when ordering, but the delivery time was only 2 days (we live in OH). I definitely recommend Northwood Rings and I will be ordering from them again in the future.

My wife ordered my wedding band from Northwood and I have loved the quality of the ring and the company's customer service. I have had my Indian Rosewood with Grey Maple and 14K Yellow Gold Accents for over 1 year and have not had any major issues. I did have to get it refinished by Northwood at the one year mark due to the wood becoming rough through normal wear. The refinishing was free (just had to pay for shipping) and can be avoided with monthly waxing which is included with the ring, but not if your wife loses it before gifting :)
My first wedding band was a rose gold plated ring with a wooden inlay. The rose gold tarnished within a year so pay attention to rings being plated v. solid. I did not care since the ring was purposely cheap due to working as a restaurant chef during that time. This ring by Northwood has not tarnished since it is solid gold and would highly recommend.
