Limited Warranty

Northwood Jewelry Warranty

We take pride in the craftsmanship of our jewelry and stand behind the quality of our products. We are pleased to offer a comprehensive warranty on all Northwood created jewelry to ensure your satisfaction and peace of mind.

Warranty Duration

Our warranty covers all Northwood created jewelry for a period of two (2) years from the date of purchase. During this time, we guarantee the structural integrity of our jewelry and that it will be free from manufacturing defects in material and/or workmanship.

Warranty Coverage

Under this warranty, we will repair any manufacturing defects in your jewelry free of charge*. This includes any issues arising from the craftsmanship or materials used in the creation of the jewelry.

Scope of Warranty Coverage

Our warranty is designed to provide coverage for manufacturing defects in our jewelry. It does not cover issues arising from rough wear, misuse, or inappropriate handling of the jewelry. Manufacturing defects include but are not limited to:

  1. Porosity in metal leading to structural weakness.
  2. Poor soldering or welding resulting in breakage or separation of components.
  3. Prongs or settings not adequately securing gemstones, causing them to become loose or fall out.
  4. Cracks or fractures in the jewelry resulting from the manufacturing process.

However, our warranty does not cover damages resulting from the following:

  1. Accidental impacts, rough usage, or improper handling of the jewelry.
  2. Damage caused by wearing the jewelry while engaging in tasks that may cause undue stress on the piece.
  3. Alterations, modifications, or repairs conducted by anyone other than Northwood Jewelry or its authorized representatives.
  4. Damage due to exposure to harsh chemicals, excessive heat, or corrosive substances.

It is important to note that jewelry requires proper care to maintain its longevity. Regular inspections, refinishing, and prompt attention to any issues will ensure the continued beauty and durability of your jewelry.

Our team of skilled artisans carefully crafts each piece of jewelry to meet our high-quality standards. In the rare event that a manufacturing defect occurs, we stand behind our products and are committed to addressing the issue promptly and professionally.

Please contact us if you have any concerns about your jewelry or need assistance with repairs. We are here to help and ensure your jewelry brings you joy for many years to come.

Note: The warranty coverage may also exclude certain conditions as outlined in the "Exclusions" section of this warranty document.

Warranty Transfer

The warranty for our jewelry remains with the product, allowing it to be transferred to subsequent owners if the jewelry is sold or gifted. The warranty length does not change and is valid for two years from the initial owners receipt of the jewelry.

Exclusions

The following items are excluded from our warranty coverage:

  1. Custom-made products.
  2. Products made with or from customer-provided materials.
  3. Jewelry made to customer specifications that the customer was advised against.

Repair Assessment and Process

For warranty repairs, the item must be returned to us. In special circumstances, where the repair is minor, we may allow a qualified jeweler closer to the customer to complete the repair to save time, money, and reduce mailing.

Gemstone Inspection

We recommend that jewelry with gemstones be inspected annually by a reputable jeweler for any loosening of stones in their settings. Melee gemstones (2mm or smaller) will be replaced free of charge for the first 6 months. After the first 6 months, melees may be replaced for a fee equal to materials and labor if damage occurs due to missing or damaged prongs.

Wood and Natural Inlays Refinishing

Jewelry with natural material inlays, such as wood, may need refinishing from time to time to ensure the waterproof acrylic finish protecting these materials from water remains in good condition. Signs that refinishing may be needed include deep scratches, dull or rough surfaces, flaking of the finish, or a pronounced crackling effect. For the lifetime of your jewelry with natural material inlays, we offer free refinishing of the waterproof acrylic finish. Minor repairs will be completed free of charge when your item arrives for refinishing. If major repairs are required, please contact us before sending your item to discuss repair options.

Shipping for Warranty Repairs

For warranty repairs, we will provide reasonable shipping coverage to facilitate the repair process.

Major Repairs

If major repairs are required that fall outside the warranty coverage, we will communicate the cost and repair options to the customer before any repair work takes place.

Lifetime Care, Repair & Refinishing

Beyond the two-year warranty period, we offer lifetime care, repair, and refinishing for a nominal cost. Please contact us with images and/or a description of the issue, and we can help you assess the best way to move forward with repairs.

Please note that gemstones larger than .05ct and center gemstones are not covered under warranty. Forever One Charles & Colvard moissanites over 4mm come with a separate warranty from Charles & Colvard, and customers are responsible for setting up their warranty with them.

Returned Packages and Customs Charges

For returning or exchanging new products and sending products for warranty services, customers are required to purchase their own shipping, safely package their product(s), and ensure appropriate insurance. We recommend contacting us before shipping internationally for assistance and information on regulations and best practices. We are happy to share our extensive knowledge on shipping products containing wood, precious materials, and other natural materials.

Packages that accrue customs charges will be refused if we cannot contact the sender for payment within the shipping courier's allotted holding time frame.

Exchanges, repairs, refinishes, and resizes will incur shipping charges when the product(s) are ready to be returned to the customer. Customers will be provided with multiple shipping options (UPS or Canada Post) at that time and may select their preferred method. Customers are responsible for any customs charges associated with return shipping.

Please note that damage or loss during the shipping and handling of returned packages is not the responsibility of Northwood Custom Jewelry.

Returns, Refunds & Exchanges

Returns and exchanges are accepted on all Northwood jewelry within 14 days of receiving your product(s). Products must be returned in original, unworn condition. Modifications made to the original product(s), abnormal signs of wear, or having our jewelry worked on by any other jeweler voids the ability to return the product(s) for refund or exchange. Custom orders, deposits, inscription fees, and partial payments are not eligible for a refund.

As each product is made to order, a 10% restocking fee plus applicable shipping costs will be deducted from the total refund amount.

Exchanges apply to item(s) of equal or greater value than the original item(s) ordered. If an item of lesser value is chosen for exchange, the difference in cost between the original and new item will be issued in store credit.

Customers are responsible for the safe return shipping of the product(s) and any fees associated with return shipping. Please see our Shipping policy for more information.

To start a return, please contact us at sales@northwoodjewelry.com so we can send you instructions on how and where to send your package.

You can always contact us for any return question at sales@northwoodjewelry.com

Resizing

Most of our rings can be resized. If it's unable to be resized, it will be noted on the product listing. Resizing is done for the cost of the materials and labor, and customers are responsible for their shipping costs. Pricing can vary widely, but the closer you are to the correct size, the less cost you'll incur. That's why it's best to try to be accurate with your sizing when you order.

For our wood rings, we offer a 30-day Perfect Fit Guarantee, as resizing these rings often requires additional labor. Within the 30-day window, the resizing cost will be determined by the labor and materials used, or not exceeding 15% of the purchase price (whichever is less). After 30 days, the resizing cost will be based on labor and materials, or not exceeding 30% of the purchase price (whichever is less).

Please note that in resizing a wood ring, the original wood needs to be removed and replaced, so grain and color may vary from the original.
