Wood Wedding Bands

Shop The collection

Wood plays an ever-present role in our lives. It is the warmth of the fires we start, the frames of the homes we build, and the resonance of the instruments that make our music.

From deep roots to reaching branches, a tree symbolises life itself. To mark a marriage—a relationship that is rooted, growing, and weathering the seasons—I feel there is simply no better choice.

Wood Wedding Band Questions

The things we're asked the most

Will wooden rings last?

Absolutely. We have been making wooden rings since 2011 and can confidently say they can become heirloom pieces, much like well-made furniture passed down for generations.

We use the traditional bentwood technique to create a strong, layered circle, inlaid into a solid metal core. This protects the edges, allowing the wood to shine while the metal stands up to daily life.

Can wood rings get wet?

Our rings are meant to be worn daily, just as you would a more traditional wedding band.

Both our bentwood technique, as well as the clear coating we use to seal our rings, allow the wood to be exposed to water with no damage from short exposure.

Sizing & Resizing

We recommend using our sizing kit to find your perfect fit, and we're always willing to help you find your correct size.

You can also visit a local jewellery store and ask to be sized for a ring in a similar width as the one you plan to purchase. We use standard UK or US sizing.

For the future, our wooden rings in gold or platinum can be resized. We will need to remove the wood or any inlays and replace it, but the ring itself can be sized and the wood replaced with a new piece. We do this for the cost of labour and materials.

Our Materials (Ethical & Personal)

Our studio is rooted in respect for nature. We use 100% recycled Gold and Platinum and wood salvaged from fallen trees or heritage sources.

But we can also tell your story. We love to craft rings using materials sent to us by clients—sand from a favourite beach, wood from a childhood home, or even ashes—making the ring physically part of your history.

Handcrafted Wood & Gold Rings

Why Choose a Wooden Wedding Ring?
In a sea of mass-produced metal bands, a wood ring tells a different story. It speaks of roots, growth, and the ability to weather the storm. Whether you are drawn to the deep, fossilised history of Bog Oak, the rich warmth of Walnut, or the rugged character of Ironwood, each grain pattern is as unique as a fingerprint. No two rings are ever identical.

The Northwood Difference: Bentwood Durability
The biggest concern with wood rings is often durability. Many mass-produced wooden rings are cut from a solid block, leaving "short grain" weak spots that can snap under pressure.

We use the Bentwood Method. By steaming and wrapping a single strip of timber layer-by-layer, we align the grain around the circumference of the ring. This creates a composite structure that is flexible, incredibly strong, and resistant to snapping.

Evolution: The Metal Core
We began crafting solid wood rings in 2011, and many of those early pieces are still being worn today. However, to create a ring truly built for daily life, we now inlay our wood directly into a solid Recycled Gold or Platinum core.
The metal protects the delicate edges from daily impact, while a glass-like finish seals the wood against moisture and scratches. It offers the best of both worlds: the structural permanence of metal with the organic warmth of timber.

Sustainable & Ethical Jewellery UK
We believe luxury shouldn't cost the earth. Our studio operates off-grid on the UK canal network, and we prioritize materials that tread lightly:

  • Recycled Metals: 100% recycled Gold and Platinum.
  • Salvaged Timber: We use fallen branches, reclaimed furniture, and ancient bog woods rather than harvesting living trees. We strictly ensure our woods are never found on the IUCN Red List or endangered.
  • Conflict-Free Stones: While we love natural beauty, we prioritize ethics. We source only conflict-free, traceable stones or ecologically sound lab-grown options. If we cannot verify the source, we simply won't use the material.

Custom Commissions
Don't see exactly what you're looking for? We specialize in bespoke commissions. Whether you want to use wood from your own land or incorporate sand from a special beach, we can craft a custom wood wedding band that holds your personal story.
